Second Season of Hit TV Series Now in Production

Overwhelming Toy Demand in North America Makes Bakugan the Biggest Retail Hit of the Season

(MIPCOM, Cannes, France) – Bakugan-mania continues as Nelvana Enterprises and its global partners, Spin Master Ltd., Sega Toys Ltd. and TMS Entertainment, Ltd., announced today that they are producing an additional 26 episodes of the anime-style television series, to be entitled Bakugan: New Vestroia.

Currently airing on Cartoon Network in the U.S. and TELETOON in Canada, the second season will follow Dan, Marucho and Drago as they join forces with the Bakugan Resistance in order to restore peace and freedom to their enslaved planet. The newly formed group of friends must battle the evil Vestal to free the captured Bakugan and destroy the Vestal’s plans for domination. New episodes will be ready for Spring 2009.

Bakugan: New Vestroia is a co-production from Nelvana Enterprises, Spin Master Ltd., Sega Toys Ltd. and TMS Entertainment, Ltd. with animation by TMS Entertainment, Ltd. in association with Sega Toys Ltd.

Bakugan toys and accessories by partner Spin Master are topping the charts at retail, beating out well established movie-based properties that have long dominated the boys’ action aisles. The game’s Bakugan spheres that transform into “battle brawling” action figures when rolled onto special game cards are selling out instantly due to overwhelming product demand – 2.5 Bakugan per second are being sold in North America at this time. Already in the U.S., Canada, Australia and much of Asia, Bakugan toys will debut in France and the U.K. for Holiday 2008, with the rest of Europe rolling out through 2009 along with related broadcast launches.

As Bakugan’s exclusive licensing agent in the U.S., Cartoon Network Enterprises has signed several new partners in the soft lines categories for the brand featuring some of the top manufacturers in a range of key product categories including apparel, sleepwear, footwear, swimwear and accessories. Definitely...but it's kinda sexist...saying Bakugan is for boys...

It is both Sexist AND Cool! HOWEVER I am wondering how they plan to continue this "Baku-Frenzy" with another season if they ended it how they did.

I agree with you two, and I'm guessing they're going to make whole new characters and bakugan.... Maybe like after the whole thing when they're all like ~OlD~ (Ex. Old Dan and Runo)
